WHAT HAS BEN BEEN UP TO?

May 13-July 15, 2006, Dessau, Germany; Architecture Summer Program

25 June, 2006 - Church of the Sacred Heart, München (Herts Jesu Kirche).  This is an amazing modern church; the exterior is completely made of glass with the interior being made up of wood planks.  The natural light falls mystically on the alter through the changing facade and the rotation of the planks on the interior.  The choir from Claire College, Cambridge, was performing that evening, through a introduction from the choir director, Tim Brown, Ben was able to attend and was fortunate enough to meet the architect, Amandus Sattler, along with the Archbishop of München.  Architecture is a strong part of Ben's calling to the minisrty, and being able to see and meet those responisble for designs that inspire and challenge him is always looked at as a blessing from God.

16 June,  2006 - Ben visited Schlosskirche (All Saints Church or CastleChurch) in Wittenburg, Germany.  This is the church where Martin Luther, as legend has it, nailed his 95 thesis to the door of the church and, along with his teachings, sparked the Reformation along with many Protestant traditions.  Although the original church has been destroyed and rebuilt and the famous doors replaced, this is still a power place in history to have stood.
